Fiber, Wifi, Fax & More

Oliver Wolcott Library provides robust internet through our fiber network and related services such as WiFi through the Connecticut library system. Fiber internet is one of the fastest and most reliable internet connections available today. Our partnership with Connecticut Education Network through the state of Connecticut helps close the gap in the digital divide by delivering uniform high-speed Internet access for our patrons with the use of four public access computers and secure WiFi internet throughout the building.

Wireless Services

The Library provides free wireless internet for patrons. Simply connect to the network named OWL Patron Secure, and enter the password (posted throughout the library and on our front doors) when prompted.

WiFi is available outside the library! The best locations to access the WiFi is on the north, south and east sides. Try to avoid parking near the brick building as the brick seems to cut down on the strength of the signal. One more tip: it will work best if you download one book at a time.

The Library offers one public black and white copier for use by patrons at a charge of 15 cents per copy.

Exam Proctoring

Do you need a test or exam proctored?  For a $25 fee, the Library provides this service and will act as proctors for distance learning students, professionals or others who may need to have a test or exam proctored.  For more information or to schedule an appointment, contact us or call the Library 860-567-8030.

A fax machine for public use is available. Sending fee for anywhere in the U.S.: $2.00 first page, $1.00 for each additional page. Receiving fee is 75 cents per page. Faxes received will be kept for 2 days then discarded if they are not picked up or paid for.

The Library offers a simple way to find out what appliances are worth keeping plugged in. Simply connect these appliances to the Kill A Watt®, and it will assess how efficient they really are. Click here to borrow a Kill-a-watt electricity usage monitor or stop by the front desk. Due to COVID-19 we are not lending the Kill-a watt at this time.

All documents printed from our public access computers to our printer cost 15 cents per copy for black and white. Please see our Policy on Printer Fees for a full description.
