Social Networking Policy
The Oliver Wolcott Library utilizes social networking tools and other emerging technologies to
further its mission and core values.
Where moderation of comments is an available option, comments from the public will be moderated before
posting by the Oliver Wolcott Library’s designated staff editors. The Oliver Wolcott Library reserves the right to
modify or remove any comments, posts, or messages that it deems, in its sole discretion, to be abusive;
obscene; defamatory; in violation of copyright, trademark or other intellectual property right of any third
party; promotion of a commercial interest; solicitation of any kind including fundraising and politic solicitation;
not relating to the topic; or otherwise inappropriate. The Oliver Wolcott Library advises all users to be
courteous and respectful of others. Posts, comments and participation should be focused on the topic.
Social networking venues offer access to many users from many inputs and are generally available for public
viewing. The Oliver Wolcott Library advises users to not post or comment on any private or confidential
information.
The Oliver Wolcott Library also reserves the right to edit or modify any submissions in response to requests
or feedback or other commentary.
By posting content, the user agrees to indemnify the Oliver Wolcott Library, its officers and its employees from
and against all liabilities, including but not limited to: judgments, damages, and costs (including attorney’s fees)
incurred by any of them which arise out of or are related to the posted content. The Oliver Wolcott Library is
not responsible or liable for content posted by any user in any forum, message board, or any other comment
section available through social networking tools.
Users who do not agree to these terms should not comment, post or participate in any of the Oliver Wolcott
Library’s social networking venues.
